Ingrid has always painted; a childhood obsessing over illuminated projects led to study in art and design, photography and journalism while working as a freelance illustrator. For the last 10 years she has been painting in Edinburgh, continuing the learning process and exhibiting.
Her subject matter is quite spontaneous and linked to the subconscious. Dreams, stories, imaginings and autobiographical elements appear, often influenced by recent travel. Ingrid paints in acrylic and mixed media and loves colour and pattern. She has recently been returning to her ‘make and do’ roots using potato printing and scrafito to build up the painted surface.
2009 was spent living on the Isle of Arran with visits to Tuscany and Vietnam, so some quite diverse influences are in play at the current time!
