Penny Lyall studied at Lincoln College of Art in the early sixties. After taking up a career in a drawing office and raising a family she is now retired and has resumed her painting again in full swing.
Penny works mainly in watercolours, but is accomplished in pencil drawing and draughtsmanship. She is a well known member of the Pentland Art club and her work features regularly and succesfully in local exhibitions and galleries. Her paintings were shown in the 2008 and 2009 RSW exhibitions at the National Gallery and the Meffan Gallery, respectively, and she won the Art award in a recent Pentland inspiration competition run by the Pentlands Regional Park.
Penny lives at the edge of the Pentland Hills whose landsapes provide her with much inspiration. Material gathered during visits to other parts of Scotland, France and Italy also feature increasingly in her work.
