"I live in Roslin village with my husband and children and much of my initial inspiration to paint and make pictures came from our time spent in the surrounding countryside. I carry my sketchbook everywhere we go, and draw in the fields and on the beach as the children play. I love natural forms, vernacular buildings, vibrant colour and dramatic, loose, fast paintings.I generally start with ink and oil pastel sketches, progress to collage if the subject is working well, then finally progress again to painting. I work as much as possible ‘in situ’: sitting in front of the buildings, boats, or on the beach. I work quickly, trying to capture the shape and feel of a place, before I get rained on."
