Joy Grindrod is a Lake District artist who also spends a lot of time painting on the West coast of Scotland.

Joy was born in Ulverston and works from her studio in Coniston in the heart of the Lake District. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Central Lancashire gaining a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. During this period she explored printmaking and experimental photography, quickly developing a desire to explore texture and expression within these medias. She has been fortunate to spend most of her life living where she can see rough hillside and rock , a 'back garden' that has become a key influence for her work, and has inspired her to investigate the use of paint, mixed media and textures to translate the fundamental nature of the place.
